The Illinois Medieval Association held its twelfth annual meeting, organized around the theme of "The Child in the Middle Ages," at Northern Illinois University on February 18-19, 1995. Fourty-seven papers were delivered at the conference; the essays contained in this Volume were chosen from among those submitted for publication and were subsequently revised, and, in some cases, expanded. The plenary session featured an address by Barbara Hanawalt.
